What the Super Screener said before the 2026 Derby

Golden Tempo and Renegade were both “A” rated, both ranked in the top four, and both in the Super Screener Super Six. Here’s Golden Tempo’s page from the 2026 Kentucky Derby Super Screener, published before the race (on a phone, swipe to see it all →):

2026 Kentucky Derby Super Screener page for No. 19 Golden Tempo: ranked A, Top Long Shot, 94% of criteria hit, with pace and speed figure chart

The report said he’d sit 16th to 18th, then swing out for “a sustained, determined bid to contend for the win or a piece at a big price.” That’s how the race was run.

The model also called the pace. A fast pace meant the closers would get their chance:

Pace1/2 mile3/4 mile
Super Screener predicted:46 1/51:10 4/5
Actual:46 2/51:10 4/5
Golden Tempo was last early and won at 23-1. Renegade was right there with him at the back and finished 2nd. The frontrunners ran 9th, 11th and 13th.

And it kept working at the Breeders’ Cup

Breeders’ Cup 2026 at Keeneland was one of the chalkiest in memory: no winner paid more than 5-1. The Super Screener still found the winners and the live long shots.

7 Top “A” picks wonEmphatic, Hughes, Haffner, Ways and Means, Kathynmarissa, T O Elvis and Nitrogen.
